Volunteer Opportunities with NYC and AmeriCorps
César Chávez Day –April 5th
Join Northwest Youth Corps AmeriCorps members for a service day in the spirit of Cesar Chavez on April 5th by working side-by-side as a community to create a positive change. The mission of this day is to help empower individuals to understand their potential to create the change they want to see in their lives and their communities.
Sponsored by both Northwest Youth Corps and the OutDoor High School, César Chávez Day will include working with the communities of Chávez Elementary and El Camino del Rio to renovate and beautify school grounds. Projects will include garden work, mural painting, and clean-up.

Laurel Hill Creek Watershed Restoration Project – May 3rd
The Laurel Hill Creek Watershed Restoration Project is a community event occurring May 3rd, 2008 in the Laurel Hill Valley community. The purpose of this restoration project is to promote environmental stewardship, community service and to make a difference in our community.
The Laurel Hill Creek Watershed Restoration Project is sponsored by the Northwest Youth Corps and the OutDoor School. The project will consist of Northwest Youth Corps style work crews completing fun, local conservation projects. Our projects will consist of hiking trail maintenance on Moon Mountain, invasive species removal throughout Laurel Hill Valley, stream restoration along Laurel Hill Creek and work in our two acre organic garden!
