
Northwest Youth Corps - AmeriCorps History
For the past 13 years Northwest Youth Corps (NYC) and AmeriCorps have partnered to meet our communities critical needs in education, public safety, and the environment and help promote positive youth development through quality NYC programs. With the assistance of AmeriCorps grants and support NYC is able to offer a variety of community services through NYC. NYC currently receives support from the Oregon Volunteers! State Commission and The Corps Network for our AmeriCorps programs.
Northwest Youth Corps - AmeriCorps Support
Oregon Volunteers!:
Oregon Volunteers! (OV!) - Oregon Commission for Voluntary Action & Service promotes and supports AmeriCorps, volunteerism and civic engagement to strengthen Oregon communities through the award of an AmeriCorps grant called Developing Youth, Empowering Communities (DYEC). With the assistance of OV!, NYC places six AmeriCorps members in the NYC Outdoor High School and three other members in Rural, Lane County Schools. The Corps Network:
The Corps Network promotes growth, quality, and sustainability of Corps and their members. There vision is for well-funded, high-quality Corps programs to serve every community. The Corps Network assists Service and Conservation Corps to provide a wealth of valuable conservation, infrastructure improvement and human service projects. The Corp Network helps NYC provide our members with the chance to change their communities, their own lives and those of their families. NYC is supported by a Corps Network grant which provides various youth, young adults, and adults with the opportunity to receive AmeriCorps funded Education Awards after serving in select NYC programs.
