YouthGrow Program
Youth 9-13 years old will be working with OutDoor School staff and AmeriCorps helping plan, harvest, and maintain the Laurel Valley Educational Farm on the OutDoor School Campus. During the three week sessions participants receive lessons in organic gardening techniques, botany, soils, and plant and insect ID while working and having fun in the garden. YouthGrow participants are also encouraged to enjoy the fruits of their labor, learning lessons in nutrition by making themselves salads for lunch and learning how to prepare healthy meals using the garden's fresh organic produce. Crews will also perform community service by helping maintain School Garden Project gardens, local community gardens, and conservation projects. On field trips participants will explore the rich natural resources of the Willamette Valley.
YouthGrow sessions last three weeks Monday-Friday from 9am to 3pm.
- Session 1: June 29 - July 17
