Spring Conservation Corps sets the pace for 2006
Spring CC youth got down to business their first week with a Scotch broom removal (photo left) in the Umpqua National Forest, near Roseburg, Oregon. Crews also pruned conifers for the BLM. At Rock Creek, youth moved rocks and fallen trees to prepare the area for summer visitors. Spring CC has set a rockin' pace!

Meet the teachers, tour the school, and find out about the exciting things that make the OutDoor High School unique. 5:00-7:00 p.m. at 2621 Augusta Street, Eugene, Oregon.

June 8th graduation planned
Mark your calendar and plan to help the graduates celebrate their success at the NYC campus. Graduation starts at 2:00 p.m. and lasts about an hour. A reception follows.

Yearbook class hard at work
The Journalism class students will be putting the final touches on the 2006-07 yearbook this month. This yearbook will have a different look and feel, because the students will be publishing and binding it themselves.

Popular Junction City, Oregon pond gets improvements
Soren Anderson, of the NYC AmeriCorps Rural School team, is leading an improvement project at the popular Junction City Pond. The pond is a popular family fishing and recreation site. Thanks to Wildish Land Company, Conser Quarry, Egge Sand & Gravel, other donors, and volunteers for their support of this project. Read more.

Rebuilding in Indonesia
NYC alumnus, Ted Kulongoski, Jr., is helping a community in Indonesia rebuild following the devastation of the 2004 tsunami. Ted sent us a photo and a short letter about his work. Read more and see the photo.
